Major Pieces of Equipment of the 20th Engineers The M113A3 Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) is the battalion's basic vehicle for command and control (battalion commander, company commanders, and platoon leaders) and is the transporter of combat engineer squads and their equipment. It is optimized for mobility operations, fast enough to accompany far-ranging armored attacks, and tough enough for pushing through obstacles and excavating fighting positions.
